Huelisadic Series

A series of paintings created in 1995 by Madison, Wisconsin painter R.O. Coberly that feature intricate, key-like, organic shapes and rich, intense constellations of color.

The Huelisadic series derives from Coberly's ongoing interest in a constant game of "who's on top and who's behind" - a visual tug-of-war between a sense of which shapes and colors reside the foreground and background of these dynamic two-dimensional spaces.

The images in this series explore a relationship between almost Matisse-like, key-toothed shapes dancing around broad color fields and monolothic geometric forms.
